Experience certificate as per UAE labour law
The UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, Article 13) mandates employers to provide a service termination certificate, free of charge, upon an employee’s request at the end of their contract.
“Giving the worker, as per his request and upon expiry of the employment contract, a certificate of experience, without fees, indicating the date of his commencement of work, the date of its expiry, his entire service term, job title or type of work he was performing, the last wage he was receiving and the reason for the termination of the employment contract, provided that the certificate does not include anything that may harm the worker’s reputation or limit his chances of finding new job opportunities.”
Notably, the law doesn’t explicitly exclude employees who are terminated during probation. This means you may still be entitled to this certificate even if your employment ended within the probationary period.
If you’re facing difficulty obtaining your experience certificate, Al Mulla Lawyers can guide you through the process and represent you, if necessary, to ensure you receive what you’re legally entitled to under UAE law.
